Organ Music of Dan Locklair Performed by Marilyn Keiser on April 5 at Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, New York
Dan Locklair’s Phoenix Processional for organ and two movements from his Windows of Comfort will be performed by world-renowned organist Marilyn Keiser on Friday, April 5 – 7:30 PM at Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue in New York, N.Y. This will be part of the American Guild of Organists sponsored recital and gala benefit reception honoring Dr. Keiser.
Phoenix Processional for solo organ comes from a larger composition entitled Phoenix Fanfare and Processional for organ, brass quartet and percussion. The original three minute Phoenix Fanfare was commissioned in 1979 by Union Theological Seminary in New York City for the February 1980 reopening and dedication of Union’s renovated James Memorial Chapel.
Windows of Comfort (Organbooks I and II) is a 1996 work for solo organ. The complete work has been recorded by Marie Rubis Bauer for Recital Recordings and selections have been recorded by Douglas Cleveland for the Gothic label.
