On October 14, 2018, the Society of Musical Arts Orchestra (SOMA), Stephen Culbertson, Conductor and Musical Director, performed Dan’s “Independence Day,” the first movement of his Symphony No. 2, “America,” at Maurice Levin Theater in West Orange, NJ. The complete Symphony, published by Subito Music, features three movements that individually reflect a quintessential American holiday. “Independence Day” is based on America the Beautiful. The work premiered in October 2016, when John Gordon Ross conducted NC’s Western Piedmont Symphony.
