Fanfare Pro Humanitate (A Festive Piece for Brass, Percussion and Organ) was commissioned in late 2021 by the Wake Forest University Presidential Inauguration Committee for the 25 March 2022 Inauguration of Dr. Susan R. Wente as Wake Forest’s fourteenth President. Fanfare Pro Humanitate is dedicated to the Wake Forest University community who so truly embody the spirit of Pro Humanitate.
The celebrative Fanfare Pro Humanitate was completed on 4 January 2022. Composed for brass quintet (two trumpets, two trombones and tuba), one percussion player (timpani, large suspended cymbal and glockenspiel) and organ, Fanfare Pro Humanitate celebrates the Wake Forest University motto, Pro Humanitate. Translated “for humanity,” this motivational motto is filled with varied and substantial meaning as it promotes human compassion in every walk of life and encourages the pursuit of knowledge, creativity and open dialogue for all who embrace it.
